Introduction

Archaeological evidence shows that humans were consuming hazelnuts as far back as 7000 BC. Since then, hazelnuts have been an important part of many cultures’ diets.

Historical documents state that hazelnuts were produced on the Black Sea coast in northern Turkiye 2300 years ago, and that hazelnuts have been exported from Turkiye to other countries for the last six centuries. Turkiye, one of the few countries in the world with appropriate weather conditions for hazelnut production, accounts for 75% of total global production and 70-75 percent of exports. 



      Hazelnut gardens, which are high in number along Turkiyes Black Sea coasts, are spread over an area of no more than 30 kilometers from the coast to the interior. 

Hazelnut varieties and kernel sizes to develop new ingredients for confectionery, baking, ice creams and other applications. These include natural, roasted, blanched, diced, and paste ingredients, carefully produced to retain flavor, texture and aroma.
